Stephannie Roy

Stephanie Roy was a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow in the Faculty of Physical Education and Health from 2004 to 2007 coordinating a SSHRC funded project – 'Fit to Print : Physical Activity and Health Messages in the Canadian News Media'. Stephanie completed her Ph.D. in Sociology and Equity Studies in Education at OISE/UT and received her M.A. in Sociology from Lakehead University and her B.A. in Psychology from York University in Toronto. Her research interests stem from her dissertation which examined representations of health in English-Canadian women's magazines. Currently, she is interested the production, presentation and reception of media health messages, and the ways in which gendered representations of health are created.
