Job Title:      Proteomics / Mass Spectrometry – Postdoctoral Research Fellow

Employer:    Centre for Research in Neurodegenerative Diseases, University of Toronto

Location:      St. George Campus, Toronto, Canada

Date Posted: February, 2007

Description: The proteomics / mass spectrometry laboratory at the Centre for Research in Neurodegenerative Diseases, University of Toronto, has an opening for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow. The laboratory offers new facilities with state of the art equipment and is embedded in a highly stimulating research environment at the CRND.

As the successful candidate you will apply novel strategies for the identification and characterization of protein assemblies, drug targets and diagnostic markers in the context of neurodegenerative diseases.

Applicants with a Ph.D. in biochemistry, chemistry or related disciplines are preferred. The ideal candidate has practical experience in mass spectrometry and its application to protein analysis, protein separation chromatography including analytical, microbore and capillary HPLC, two-dimensional gel electrophoreses and biological mass spectrometry. Additional experience in bioinformatics or neurobiology is a plus.

You are as much detail-oriented as you possess organizational and problem solving skills. The applicant will be required to prepare data for publications and grant proposals and educate researchers at the CRND on mass spectrometry fundamentals and applications. Excellent oral and written communication skills are therefore essential.

This position offers outstanding opportunities for further career development.
