Gyrocopter for egg drop contest
This gyrocoter like device was used in an egg drop contest when I was in highschool. It uses autorotation to slow the egg down. Since the blades need about 3 meters from the worst possible position (upside down) to start rotating, I covered the egg in foam and some insulation. To make the blades as resistant as possible I used thin steel rods for the blades' frames and mylar to cover them. The fuselage is made of thin wooden rods bent using hot water and joined using carpenter's glue and string.
