Legend of Mana
Review by: Illyandra

Introduction:
Long ago the Mana Goddess/Mana Tree, and the Mana God's created Fa'Diel, and Mana flowed freely, but people desired the power of Mana, and warred over the power and the artifacts created by that power. That desire for power and war lead to the destruction of the Mana Tree. Afterwards Mana slowly faded from Fa'Diel, and so came peace, but people became afraid to truly desire, to truly love, and into this era of Fa'Diel your character comes in to help change that…..

Story 8/10:
The Quest stories were well written and interesting, my personal favorite was to quests involving the Jumi, but the storyline was lacking in personal involvement. It never felt that your character was essential to the story or that you were a real part of it. It was like you were and outside observer to a story, that just helps everyone out. Overall though the storylines, we're funny, emotional, and mysterious, everything you could want in a story :)

Graphics 8/10:
The graphics we're beautiful water colours, but I felt it didn't used the full potential of the Playstation, and they could have had a better introduction clip.

Music 8/10:
I found the music in Legend of Mana very fitting for the situations, and not annoying (which is very important if you're playing for a long time). I especially liked the ending music, though I didn't understand it :) but it wasn't the best I've ever heard.

Combat System 7/10:
I found the combat system pretty simple, and easy to use, but it lacked, b/c basically all you had to do was stand there and keep doing the quick combos, and once in awhile your special techniques, and that's enough to kill all the bosses, and I found the last boss very easy, compared to some of the other boss monsters. Overall fighting doesn't really take much skill, or thought, it was pretty much chop, chop, chop, and that would take care of everything for you.

Overall Rating: about an 8/10

Extra Comments:
There were a lot of extras in the game like raising monsters, making your own weapon, making instruments and golems, which can be fun, but I found that Legend of Mana had way too many items for these extra's, and it takes a lot of time to figure out what each item does, or to make a really good weapon, or golem. I found that after I did each type of activity a few times I stopped bothering with them.
