Compiled by Reade, the Deputy Keeper of Prints and Drawings for the Victoria and Albert Museum, this catalogue raisonné contains a number of drawings, prints, lithographs, etc. drawn from the collection depicting ballet costumes and set designs from the late sixteenth until the mid-twentieth century. Information about these images has been collected almost entirely from reputable secondary sources, such as Cyril W. Beaumont. While Reade’s compilation doesn’t provide any textual information directly related to my topic, the numerous illustrations provide visual documentation of the use and shape of pointe shoes. As well, the bibliography used by the author has proved to be an invaluable resource. |
