"Summer Finale"
We're running towards the end of summer, and most of the people that I know who are around my age are already prepping themselves mentally for the grueling year of studies ahead of them. But everyone knows I like to be different - and how! I finally got a job at this company that brings togethers mortgager clients with appraisal clients. Not the most interesting of jobs, but it makes good money. Plus, it gives me a reason to stay in Toronto as opposed to moving back to Mississauga. And, on top of that, the people working there, including my managers, are pretty young themselves, and uberly friendly, so it makes it a little bit of an easier transition for me. I just hope no one forgets me in the upcoming year when they are buried in the mountains of textbooks (mwahahaha) studying/cramming for their tests and stuff.

Last batch of memories to make before summer 2004 is over: watching all of the movies I want to watch (listed in several previous blogs), going to Wild Water Kingdom, going to CNE/Cirque du Soleil (at Ontario Place), The Producers (maybe), Shakespeare in High Park and Ballet on Harbourfront.

"All Systems Go"
So, remember how I had a sore throat last time I wrote my blog? Well, it turns out that the sore throat came from a very serious throat infection, caused by the same strain of bacteria as strep throat. And since it was contagious, it ruined all of my plans for the August long weekend, including going to Chrissandra's cottage (boooo...!). I tell you, that Murphy, he is such a prankster. You know? I waited for a year to go to the cottage and the day that we were departing, is the day that I got really sick. :( So yeah, my throat completely closed up, so it felt like there was something constantly stuck in my throat blocking my voice. AND on top of that, whenever I tried talking, no one could understand me! So I had to repeat everything twice, which got to be very irritating. I had to take a double pennicillin (amoxicillin), and it was like the size of my pinkie fingertip. I'm not even joking. It was so hard for me to swallow because it hurt so much. So, if I ever find out who gave me streptococus, I'm going to wrap my hands around their throat and see how they like it, because that was what it felt like for me for a whole damn week.

In the meantime, I'm just looking forward to the Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement to come out tomorrow (woohoo!), and several outings including a Harbourfront tour, and Chrissandra's cottage in the September long weekend.

As mostly everyone already knows about it, I rather feel like I can just talk about it online. The job search is rather more hectic than I expected it to be, and there are just some times that I can't keep track of everything. I received another job offer today (this is probably the 4th or 5th one so far) and I got another call for a job interview. However, since the job interview is tomorrow, it only gives me limited time to know everything there is to know about the company (and to actually remember all of that info too!). It's actually pretty funny, because I can't believe I am scrambling to keep track of these jobs, when I can be making over $1000 a week doing another job -- that is, modelling. Haha, enough with the jokes. Hehe, seriously, this internationally famous modelling agency wanted to meet up with me and see me in person (I guess people can look very different from in person to pictures. The only downside (and a big catch to this problem) is that since I have no prior experience with professional modelling, they wanted me to take up some course that they offer. No prob, right? I thought so, until she handed me this brochure that told me all about the course... including that it would cost me $990 up front. I was like, are you for real? Do I freakin' look like I have that kind of money to spend? Would I even be looking for a job if I had that money in my bank account!??! Haha, but of course, I just smiled and politely nodded for the rest of the meeting.

Anyways, I'll update everyone more if I figure out where I want to work. :)

"Tonsils, Anyone?"
Bah! Why is the human body so unstable!? I hate the fact that I'm sick. First, I can't stand not being able to swallow anything, and having to drink liquids every half hour so that I have to go pee every hour. *frowns* AND, I also hate losing my voice and not being able to talk properly. Especially during this week, when I'm getting all of my job interviews and phone calls! *grrrr* Lastly, because singing is the only thing that can make my mood a little brighter, and I can't even do that when I'm sick! :( BOOOOOOOOO!!!!! This sucks.

So I officially had the worst interview today. Yup. Stupid TTC. Stupid Toronto weather. Stupid rain. Yup. I was just under 10 minutes late for my job interview, but it didn't really matter because they saw how badly it was raining. But still, not a very good impression. I swear, it's Murphy's fault... it took the streetcar 10 minutes to get to the stop when it usually takes only 1 or 2 minutes (at the same time frame). Anyhow, when I finally got there, the bottom half of me soaking wet, guess what I find out? The person who I had an appointment with (for the interview) was not even there! *snarls* Sooo... the front receptionist was like, "Oh, no prob, I'll just get Lindsay to interview you." I'm like, okay, fine. Calming down a little bit, but still annoyed. However, when 'Lindsay' comes out, she's this REALLY pregnant lady!! Now, normally I wouldn't have a problem with it, but I was sick, and it MIGHT have been strep! I didn't want to infect her, so I told her from the beginning. But she gave me this really scared look like I really will infect her with it, and she physically moved her chair back 3 or 4 feet. Even after the interview, I couldn't shake her hand for fear of contaminating her. *sigh* And it didn't last as long as I thought. So it was the most awkward thing ever. Meh. There are others, but still. I don't want to be treated like I have ebola. *laughs*

"Love From All Angles - 360 Degrees"
So, you ask, what does it feel like to be the big Two-Oh? Hmm... slowly adjusting. I still feel 19, and even when people ask, I still say 19. However, without a doubt, this year has been one of the most amazing birthdays I've had. It all started in the middle of last week, when I got a huge (and I mean HUGE) bouquet of flowers. Amazingly beautiful, especially the orchids. Here's a pic:

Isn't it pretty?
My Bouquet of Flowers!

Isn't it pretty?
A closer look...

Isn't it pretty?
Bright pink roses!

And then tickets to go see Hairspray...! Amazing songs, amazing performance! It was hilariously funny, I loved the show (even though we were a little bit late)!
After that, there was a little surprise party (which was cool, because I got to see some people I haven't seen in a while, and got to catch up with them)... Although I probably looked like crap because I was still half-asleep... Serge woke me up from my very scrumptious (sp?) nap, hehe.
And as if that wasn't enough, we ended up going to the CN Tower to the 360 Restaurant for my birthday dinner. The view was amazing, and it was so romantic up there! Sitting in a booth among the clouds. :) What was semi-freaky was the glass floor, which made me all nervous and sweaty, because you can look down to 181 stories below your feet. Hehe, and for someone who is scared of heights, I'm surprised I got up enough nerve to look! :P The observation deck was really nice too, because of all the lights in the city, even though it was a bit breezy. Just being there was so romantic, and I promise to post more pictures up once I upload them onto my computer.

Who knew? Most of the events that occurred this past weekend were really unexpected, and even though I knew something was going on, I was half-asleep most of the time to put two and two together. Hehe. Well, in hindsight, I guess everything makes sense, but when you're on the roller coaster, it's just one big rush.

"The Countdown"
I've fallen into a mind-numbing writer's block. Don't know what to write, and the worst part of it all is that I can't seem to find the words to create an interesting title. Is it just me? Or is it because my life has become another one of those day-by-day-by-day things where everyday seems the same as every other?

Speaking of which, there's only 5 more days until my birthday, and I'm starting to feel it. I don't think I really like the notion of getting to the 20's. First of many reasons, I will be without an excuse ("I can't help it, I'm just a teenager!")... there's major tension in the air, and I'm full of dread of what the next couple of days may bring. But I'm sure that when it's all over, I'll learn to accept it.

"An Epic Love Story"
I finally got to watch "The Notebook" tonight, and I can't help but rant about this movie! It's such a classic love story, that transcends throughout time. *sigh* I wish that life can be as fairy-tale like as it is in the movies. But you know what? I'm not going to spoil the plotline for those of you that haven't seen the movie yet, but the last thing I have to say about the movie is that it is incredibly sad at the end. And you know what? Being such a girly-girl who loves 'chick-flicks', I (obviously) blubbered throughout the whole movie. I can't believe how many tissues I went through... I've never used that many for any other movie! :) But I guess it's just one of those things that when you can relate to it, it makes it all the more personal.

Other things of important notice since my last posting was just hanging out with Meg and Steve who came up to visit from Vermont, helping Sergio move all of his stuff to his new room, Canada Day, and beach volleyball.

To show Meg and Steve around town, we went to the Metro Toronto Zoo (which I haven't been to since I was really young) and also invited them to the salsa boat cruise that was organized by the UofT dance club. The zoo was more interesting this time around, I guess because I actually know what kind of animals I'm looking at. Surprisingly, we got around to more than 75% of the zoo in only just under 4 hours. The salsa cruise was fun, but it was semi-cloudy and freezing cold that night, and also kind of a drag to dance in 3 inch heels... remind me next time to test out the shoes I'm going to wear for dancing if I'm going to be doing that for more than a couple of hours!

Canada Day this year passed by rather unexcitingly (is that even a word?)... yeah... Serge and I originally planned to catch the fireworks at night and get down to Lakeshore relatively early so that we can walk around beforehand. However, we were both really tired in the afternoon (from lots of sleepless nights) so we took a little nap. Little did we know that we slept in for more than 3 hours, and that we left the house around 9pm. By the time we got to the restaurant (because we hadn't eaten since lunch) and finished dinner, we walked around outside thinking: "How come the fireworks are taking so long?" Then Serge got smart and checked to see what time it was... and it was waaayyyyyy past midnight already! We were eating for almost 3 hours! Granted, the food came out very slowly. And the funniest part is that while we were inside the restaurant, which was near the pier and overlooked the lake, I looked over and saw a small fire-flower... and thinking that was the "test" firework. Maybe that was the very last firework from the show... who knows? LoL.

Lastly, this past Saturday, I went to go play beach volleyball... and as usual, even putting SPF 45 continuously, I still get tanned like a piece of charcoal. *sigh* But it was fun nonetheless.. that is, until we were leaving. We were leaving just after 7pm, after playing volleyball for almost 4 hours. And to our shock and disbelief, we find that our car was towed! :( Not a good way to end off a fun filled day. We ended up having to go pick up the car, and all these people were there (maybe they were at the beach too?) picking up THEIR cars... all in all, that was NOT the ending I would have liked to see...

Upcoming events include: Watching other movies like King Arthur and Spider-Man 2, my birthday (yay!), Wild Water Kingdom, and going to CJP's cottage at the end of the month. Oh, and happy birthday Casey!

"I Want, I Want!"
Wow, this upcoming week will be a blitz! First, a couple of my friend's friends are coming up from Vermont to visit. However, there's one of them that has never been out of Vermont and grew up in an area with only one paved road or something to that effect. Wooh... can't even imagine that, but I guess we Torontonians have to show them the world! :D

Next, I have to help two people pack and move... baby, only 1 week countdown! So hard to imagine how fast time flies by! (Stupid time, making me that much more older!)

Thirdly, midterms are coming (or came) around the corner for those of us taking summer courses, so to all of those people, good luck with everything!

Fourthly, my housewarming party is also on its way... I really gotta start planning things for definite, because if not, it'll stress me out. Any suggestions?

And finally, movies movies movies! There's still some movies that are out or are coming out that I really want to see over the summer. These include: The Notebook starring Ryan Gosling (Cornwall-born actor who was on Breaker High) and Rachel McAdams (another Canadian actress)... Shrek 2 with an all star cast, because I've heard and read great reviews about this movie, and is supposedly better than the first one?!!?... The Chronicles of Riddick starring Vin Diesel... The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement starring Julie Andrews and Anne Hathaway, it's a chick flick I know, but :P to all those people who laugh!...Spider-Man 2 starring Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst, because of all the hype surrounding its release...King Arthur starring Clive Owen and Keira Knightley...Exorcist: The Beginning, which is a prequel to The Exorcist and traces the story back before WwII... Hero starring a whole bunch of Chinese actors including Tony Leung Chiu-wai, Maggie Cheung Man-Yuk, Zhang Ziyi and Jet Li...Wimbledon starring Paul Bettany and Kirsten Dunst (yeah yeah, another chick flick)... Seed of Chucky (actually coming out in October) starring Billy Boyd, Jennifer Tilly and Brad Dourif.

Am I being overly ambitious with all this movie-watching? :)

"Trivial Pursuit"
I'm so bored out of my mind doing absolutely nothing. So I thought I'd share some of the online test results that I've gotten... it's funny... no matter how stupid and idiotic I think the tests may be, I still do it just for the heck of it. LoL. I'm sure I'm not the only one that way... :)

Personality Test:
"You've Got It All!"

Decisions, decisions—so many invites to attend to, one job offer after another, so many friends so little time. No problem, you've got what it takes. You're charismatic and popular—the girl on everyone's radar. A mix of smarts, magnetism and sensitivity, you're the total package. Love at first sight can work for you, but so can a good second impression. You're as comfortable in sweats as you are in a suit or an evening gown.
Your personality lights up a room and keeps everyone coming back for more. And you can work out, volunteer, finish the big presentation, find the perfect gift for your pal, and still find time to do your nails and cuddle up with your guy. Face it, you're an overachiever! Girl next door? True friend? Perfect love? Baby, you've got it all.
Your balanced, sunny disposition is a great asset. Use your combination of emotion, intellect and natural charm to smooth out even the roughest situations.

IQ Test:
Yay! I scored a 144... which is not bad, considering I'm above average. 150+ indicates a super-genious!

I also learned that: my aura is a bright golden colour, a very lazy brainiac, that my ideal match will be a goofball, that I'm a faithful laid-back shopper, I'm curious to experience new things, can be very focused and conscientious when I want to be, an extrovert at heart (hehe, can't help that I'm a social butterfly... like a moth to a flame ^_^), very agreeable, and easily affected by negativity.

Doing a handwriting analysis, I found out that:
1. I am always ahead of myself... either because I embrace the future, or because I'm running from my past.
2. I'm very cautious with all new experiences leading into my future.
3. Integrity is a high priority on my list: loyalty and trustworthiness go hand-in-hand.
4. I'm a well-balanced person who is both dependable and flexible.
5. I have an even temperament and a warm outlook on life.
6. I'm resourceful with a sharp wit.
7. I exercise strict control over my emotions before showing them. "Cool, calm and collected" is the phrase to describe my demeanor.

Now... you guys tell me, is this how I really am?
