2012 CEA Conference
@ U of Calgary
I will be presenting a joint work with Katya Malinova (title TBA) this year at the CEA conference at the University of Calgary, June 7-10. I am scheduled to be part of the Financial Economics II session, (Sat. June 9th, 10:30-12:00). I will be providing a look at the role of Make/Take Fees in equity markets from a theoretical viewpoint. (To put it ever so broadly.)
Job-Market Time!
As the ASSA meetings in Chicago approach (Jan. 6-8), the econ job hunt begins to represent something of free-agency season in any professional sports league. For those that get excited by the 'free-agency-frenzy', I recommend keeping a close eye on the Econjobmarket BluWiki, a site that is updated with interview statuses, flyouts, and offers to many candidates on the market. For a look at Toronto's 'free-agents', see here. All the best to the job-seekers!
Nobel Laureates Meetings @ Lindau
From August 22-27 I'm in Lindau, Germany for the 4th Meeting in Economic Sciences of the Nobel Laureate Meetings. I'll be keeping a short journal about the trip (business and travel) while I'm here. The entries can be found here.
In Memoriam
In loving memory, of a great economist, educator, mentor, and friend, without whom I wouldn't be where I am today:
Alan G. Green (1932-2010), Emeritus Professor, Department of Economics, Queen's University at Kingston*
Peacefully at St. Mary's of the Lake Hospital, Kingston, on Wednesday, November 3, 2010. Beloved husband of Ann (Stephenson) of Kingston, for 53 years. Loving father of Douglas (the late Marguerite) of Ottawa, David (Susan) of Vancouver and Andrew (Linda) of Toronto. Affectionately known as "Grandad" to Isaac and the late Sarah, Nicholas and Katie, Sam and Abby.
As an expression of sympathy, contributions may be made to St. Mary's of the Lake Hospital, 3 South Patient Care (cheques payable to U.H.K.F.), in Professor Green's memory.

Rest well, old boy.
