Wayne King

Wayne King is in his fifth year as head coach of the Varsity Blues badminton program this season. As a fully certified NCCP Level III Badminton coach, King brings a wealth of experience to the position as he is in his 31st season as club coach at Harwood Junior Badminton Centre, Ajax.

Well known for summer training camps in Northern Ontario, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and even Baffin Island, the emphasis in King's program is always improvement in performance in both athletics and academics.

Coach King has served as head coach for Central Ontario at the Ontario Winter Games (3 times), head coach for Ontario at the Canada Winter Games (1991) and exchange coach for the 1987 Ontario-Jiangsu Sports Exchange. He has also earned OBA Coach of the Year honours on three occasions and in 1998, was awarded the highest award given by Ontario Badminton Association, the Keith Hollands Award in recognition of his contributions to the development of badminton within Ontario.

Coach King was voted OUA Coach of the Year for badminton in his first season, 1999, and again in 2001 and 2002.
