Peter Coppin | Main menu | Projects | Explanative illustrations

Current work [began in Fall 2007] explores ways to use graphic illustrations as simple interfaces to otherwise complex ideas. The purpose of this research is to understand the psychological processes that enable the success [or lack of success] of an illustration, and then use that understanding to create effective illustrations.

Fall 2007 investigations included a series of diagrammatic "sketches" to explain various social science research methods.

This research direction is partially inspired by previous work as a freelance illustrator [info below] that focused on creating explanitive illustrations for government proposals and technical publications/reports.
