Welcome to Daniel's homepage...
Intro...
You may be here because of the following things:
- You hit the link in Forstune's website and just simply curious about who this guy is designed Forstune's website
- I gave you this link directly.
- You queried some keywords through some search engine.
- You accidently enter a direct URL that is not supposed to be this page.
No matter which of the above you are, you are already here. So, let's just pretend we are all curious about myself and want to know more about this Daniel Che-Yi Chu.
Here, you can find a few things about me, they may be boring to you or they may be interesting to you. Whichever way you feel, here they are...
Right now, I am working in EPSON Japan as a software engineer. And yes, I will be back after a year (academic year 2006-2007) to complete the last year of my honor degree. Japan is fun and I love Japan as much as Canada.
Basic...
Origin
I am one of those Chinese-Canadian. I was originally from Taipei, Taiwan and since I was 14, I became a landed immigrant in Canada. I have been here alone since then and all my families are still in Taiwan.
Canada
When I was 18, I became a Canadian citizen and that is when the fun starts. To be perfectly honest, I really don't enjoy to be a "Taiwanese Citizen" since I was really unsure "where I was from?" and "is Taiwan even a country?" But now, I enjoy to be a Canadian, and I finally know where my home and my country is.
The really good thing about being a Canadian, in my opinion, is having the Canadian passport! Why? Because you can travel around with this password to almost all the countries around the world without getting those stupid VISA. This is great!
Education
Undergraduate School
Let's jump straightly to my undergraduate school. There is no point talking about high school stuff since I am talking about undergraduate stuff here already!
Yes, without a doubt, I am from the University of Toronto, St. George Campus. I am specializing in Software Engineering and minoring in Philosophy.
Software Engineering
The University of Toronto Software Engineering program is designed for people like me who is just crazy about COMPUTERS. We are one of those guys who know everything about COMPUTERS: from high level software application programming to low level hardware logical gates constructions. We just know everything. And by the end of the program, I will know how to write an OS, a database kernel, compilers, web applications and just everything! I am proud to be in this university and I really learned a lot of things here.
And don't be mistaken, I really love computers. You just have to know that things are not just about money. It's about your passion.
Philosophy
Philosophy is another thing that I really love about besides computers. I love to explore about the world, the meaning of lives and surprisingly, philosophy is just so closely related to computers. We write programs based on those philosophical things we learned in Philosophy classes. This is really fun!
