Histoplasmoma
Pathophysiology: A marker of old mycotic lung disease (histoplasmosis) but does not in itself exclude active disease.
CXR Findings: A granuloma with characteristic benign bullseye central calcification.
"Aunt Sophies":
- other fungal granulomata
- tuberculous granuloma (unusual)
- rarely, other benign or malignant nodules with central calcification (eg. cancer, metastasis, hamartoma)
- post-radiation treatment of lung cancer with central dystrophic calcification
