Summary
Diagnosis: Toxic Megacolon
Clinical hints:
There is usually a history of worsening ulcerative colitis.
Sometimes precipitated by anti-diarrheal medication. Do NOT do
barium study if diagnosis is suspected.
Radiological Pearls:
- dilated transverse colon
- loss of normal haustral folds
- thumbprinting
- air fluid levels on decubitus view
