Case Summary

Diagnosis:  Medullary Sponge Kidney


Clinical hints:

This is a common diagnosis and the history is typical. Contrast within ectatic renal tubules gives the "papillary blush". Stones and renal colic are common complications.


Radiological Pearls:
  • typical clusters of small calcns.
     
  • IVP: typical "papillary blush"
     
  • U/S: stones and r/o obstruction
     
  • history and imaging: diagnostic
