Case
Summary
Diagnosis: Staghorn Calculi
Clinical hints:
Commonly seen in middle-aged or older patients. There is
usually a history of renal colic or repeated urinary tract
infections. Lithotripsy or nephrolithotomy is needed to remove
these stones.
Radiological Pearls:
- typical plain film features
- IVP: stones and renal function
- U/S: best for obstruction and for follow-up after
lithotripsy
Films were kindly provided by Dr. R. W. McCallum.
