Case
Summary
Diagnosis: Urethral Diverticulum & Stone
Clinical hints:
This patient had a urethral repair following trauma. The
repair broke forming a diverticulum. In suspected urethral
injury, do not pass a catheter until the integrity of the
urethra is proven (do retrograde study). Urethral stones are
rare.
Radiological Pearls (RDU):
- used in trauma: r/o urethral injury
- assess for urethral strictures
- assess internal sphincter function
- assess voiding mechanism
Films were kindly provided by Dr. R. W. McCallum.
