Case Twenty-Two

Case Summary

Diagnosis:  Dermoid Inclusion Cyst

Clinical hints:

Retained skin from an old penetrating injuy may lead to a dermoid inclusion cyst. The cyst slowly erodes and scallops the contiguous bone. This is a benign
and uncommon lesion.

Radiological Pearls:
  • usually in toe or finger

  • soft tissue mass, slowly growing

  • bone erosion and scalloping

  • sclerotic margins

Films were kindly provided by Dr. G. Cooke.
