Case Summary

Diagnosis:  Atrial Septal Defect

Clinical hints:

This woman was quite symptomatic. Her echocardiogram showed a fairly large shunt ratio. She went on to shunt repair. Pulmonary arterial hypertension and shunt reversal, are serious complications.

Radiological Pearls:
  • typical shunt vascularity

  • enlarged right ventricle

  • prominent central pulmonary artery

  • not vascular redistribution: pitfall
