Case Summary

Diagnosis:  Acute Asthmatic Bronchitis


Clinical hints:

Acute asthma is a clinical diagnosis. When the patient is x-rayed, the study is often normal, or shows only hyperinflation and/or bronchial wall thickening.


Radiological Pearls:
  • x-ray commonly normal
     
  • hyperinflation and
     
  • bronchial wall thickening usual
     
  • atelectasis and pneumothorax may be seen
