Case Summary

Diagnosis:  Aspergillosis with Fungus Ball


Clinical hints:

Patients with fungus balls usually have pre-existing cavities. Hemoptysis, sometimes massive, is the most dreaded complication.


Radiological Pearls:
  • mass or masses in the upper lungs
     
  • often "air crescent" signs seen
     
  • decubitus views helpful
     
  • CT shows typical "fungus ball"
