Case Summary

Diagnosis:  Emphysema


Clinical hints:

Typically associated with cigarette smoking. Often seen with bronchitis and repeated chest infections. Hypoxemia may be profound requiring chronic oxygen therapy.


Radiological Pearls:
  • signs of hyperinflation present
     
  • often bronchitis and infiltrates,
     
  • pulmonary arterial hypertension,
     
  • and cor pulmonale complications
