Case Summary

Diagnosis:  Lung Abscess


Clinical hints:

Often the results of aspiration, and often seen in immuno-compromised hosts. Requires prompt diagnosis and treatment, which may include antibiotics and drainage.


Radiological Pearls:
  • usually single but may be multiple
     
  • wall often thick and irregular
     
  • may be surrounding infiltrates
     
  • may have associated effusion
