Case Summary

Diagnosis:  Prosthetic Aortic Valve


Clinical hints:

This patient had a Blake-Shiley type of aortic prosthetic valve inserted. She had a history of endocarditis involving a bicuspid aortic valve.


Radiological Pearls:
  • typical aortic valve position
     
  • direction of flow helps identify
     
  • x-ray defines valve type
     
  • tissue valves: may see only suture
