Case Summary

Diagnosis:  Pulmonary Embolus


Clinical hints:

This is a difficult clinical diagnosis. It is often over or under-diagnosed. Chest pain and hypoxemia are common. Must always suspect this condition.


Radiological Pearls:
  • normal chest x-ray 50% of time
     
  • infilrates most common
     
  •  may be seen with atelectasis
     
  • pleural effusion often present
