Case Summary

Diagnosis:  Right Lower Lobe Atelectasis


Clinical hints:

This patient developed right lower lobe atelectasis due to a mucus plug. Atelectasis is a frequent problem in ICU patients. Prompt bronchoscopy will often be needed.


Radiological Pearls:
  • typical triangular density
     
  • right heart border seen
     
  • right hemi-diaphragm silhouetted
     
  • may see some mediastinal shift
