Case
Summary
Diagnosis: Spontaneous Pneumothorax
Clinical hints:
This is commonly seen in young men. Treatment often requires
tube or catheter "drainage" of the pneumothorax. If under
tension, rapid relief required.
Radiological Pearls:
- classic "visceral pleural" sign
- air around collapsed lung
- collapsed lung denser than usual
- mediastinal shift, if under tension
Films were kindly provided by Dr. W. J. Weiser.
