Case Summary

Diagnosis:  Varicella Pneumonia


Clinical hints:

This patient had chicken-pox. Varicella pneumonia often shows only mild non-specific
x-ray findings. Secondary bacterial pneumonia can be a serious complication.


Radiological Pearls:
  • nodular patchy infiltrates usual
     
  • may be mild transitory infiltrates
     
  • hilar adenopathy sometimes seen
     
  • tiny calcifications may be marker
