Case Summary

Diagnosis:  Vascular Redistribution


Clinical hints:

This is an x-ray finding which represents the physiologic sequelae of pulmonary venous hypertension. It is seen at a wedge pressure of about 18 mm Hg or more.
This patient has mitral stenosis.


Radiological Pearls:
  • more flow to the upper lungs
     
  • vessels larger than in lower lungs
     
  • heart enlarged
     
  • differs from "shunt vascularity"
