While the photos of this section are mostly focused on the happy times I had there and the wonders of nature I witnessed (e.g. cows in the rain), I feel I must also relay to you that modern Cambodia is indeed a 3rd world country, still reeling from 30 years of cultural genocide... before the 1970s, Cambodia was a proud 1st world nation, in fact its richness and urban development was the object of admiration for lesser nations such as Singapore.
Now it is a nation in slow recovery, and atrocities of humanity - land mine accidents, child prostitution/adoption trafficking, large-scale corruption of both government and law enforcement, fixed elections, assault with acid, and epidemics of tuberculosis/HIV epidemic that are so prominent that whole hospitals and even whole villages are built in dedication of treatment of these diseases. I saw all of these in one form or another. It was horrible.
So yeah, I'm not asking for you to give all your belongings to charity or anything, that's not the point. However, I think it is important at least to be aware that such things are still going on in the world... the first step to solving any problem after all is to be aware that there IS a problem, right? Anyway, enjoy my Blog/pics and just keep what I wrote here in the backs ur minds throughout, thx!!!
