My name
is Haibin Zhang, and I am
currently working as a research scientist at ESI
(Electro Scientific Industries, Inc.),
a company dedicated for industrial laser solutions. My research interests cover a wide range of laser applications,
from ultrafast laser direct fabrication of photonic circuits and biophotonic
devices, to Excimer or UV laser fabrication of Bragg grating devices.
Currently, I am engaged in novel applications of various industrial
lasers from nanosecond solid state lasers to ultrafast laser systems.
In
November 2007, I obtained my PhD degree in Prof. Peter R.
Herman's laser photonics group at the Department
of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University
of Toronto. During my Ph.D study,I was actively involved in several
projects including Excimer laser writing of fiber Bragg gratings (FBGs), UV
(244 nm Ar+ laser) writing of FBGs, ultrafast laser direct writing of
Bragg grating waveguides (BGWs), and ultrafast laser burst LIBS (laser
induced breakdown spectroscopy).
