Great Gray Owl Strix nebulosa

I photographed this bird at Presqu'ile Provincial Park in December, 2004. The winter of 2004/2005 saw hundreds of Great Gray Owls move south from the boreal forest in search of food as their normal prey, small mammals (especially voles) experienced a population crash.
