Terni - Castello di Monte Rubiaglio |
The town of Terni is located about 80 kilometres north of Rome. In 1725 King James III and VIII visited the town as the guest of Count Giovanni Battista Negroni at the Castello di Monte Rubiaglio. 1 The Negroni were a noble family originally from Genoa. Presumably Count Giovanni Battista Negroni was a nephew or some other near relation of Cardinal Gianfrancesco Negroni (1629-1713). Among the Stuart papers at Windsor are a number of letters to and from a certain "Father Negrone", a "Teresa Negrone", and a "Monsignor Negroni".
