Let's see...well I am (Current year) - 1985 = X years old. I moved to Canada when I was a wee kid at age 4 and have lived in the GTA/Toronto since then.

When I was a kid my brother got me interested in science (he was a trekkie), and I guess that got the ball rolling. In high school I knew I wanted to keep going into the sciences, but had no idea where exactly. I ended up choosing Materials Science and Engineering at UofT for my undergrad. I felt like it had the diversity to lead me into different directions when I decided what I'd like to study.

Since then I've done my MASc in Chemical Engineering and Applied Science, and am now wrapping up my Ph.D in the Faculty of Forestry (both of which you can read more about in the Research Section).

Aside from scholastics, I'm a bit of a music junkie. I've been playing guitar since 2000 and drums since 2002. I've also picked up over the years a bass guitar, keyboard, xylophone, and sitar; but I really just mess around with these. Most of my free time goes listening to music, or playing it, recording it, and when I'm doing other things I almost always have a song in my head and am tapping along.

Athletically, every so often I'll play soccer, tennis and squash. I suppose for activities I enjoy biking, swimming, doing yoga, and in the winter snowboarding and skating. As for personal intersts, I read quite a bit also, switching back and forth from fiction and non-fiction and comics. Growing up my family was OBSESSED with gardening and our summer trips were often filled with going to different places to go hiking, so I guess I was raised to feel most at peace surrounded by nature. So hiking or biking are really my most favourite things to do, as long as it's not that horrid part of the year....allergy season!! Also I've always enjoyed building/designing things, dabbling in both wood working and circuit building, I guess it's the engineer in me and all those years of playing with LEGO that make building something from scratch using my hands and imagination so satisfying.

Wow, you're still reading this, a bit nosey eh? I'm just kidding! I guess that's about all I have to say.
