(...& the hermit resurfaces!! =P)
So, the left hinge of my DS finally gave in & split...knew I was too lucky to get one that was in "perfect" condition right out of the box (although I did exchange twice to end up with the one I have now...). Anyway, my warranty is still on (it's a year, & I got it last September; plus, there's no way I could've had it for more than a year since the DS Lite wasn't released until June 2006), so I gave Nintendo a call. The lady was very nice, she didn't even take a breather to tell me that a broken hinge is indeed covered by the warranty (at first it wasn't, until complains started flying in about that Achilles' heel of the DSL). She then asked me if I ever dropped it or anything, & I honestly said no. I even told her that I take extreme care of it, to the point of wrapping it with bubblewrap, on top of the fitted silicone sleeve I bought, before putting it in my bag (lol it's true). So she proceeded to tell me that I'll be getting a new one (!!), & when I get it in the mail I'll have to put my old one into the box & send it back to them, all for a charge of US$5. Not too shabby, I thought, so I jumped at it. And then, came the funny moment, the reason why I'm writing about this...
Lady: "So, your address please??"
Me: "xxx xxxx xxxxxxx xxxx, xxxxxxx.""And your state is...??"
"Oh, I'm in Canada.""Oh, Canada?? Hold on, lemme change the form."
"...alright, so which PROVIDENCE of Canada are you in??"
"...what??"
"OH. <trying hard not to laugh> Erm, Ontario."...ladies & gentlemen, our ever-so-knowledgeable neighbours to the South. xP
Anyway, just giving a warning to those with a DS Lite (Cloud & Ayami, & others whom I don't know about): CHECK YOUR LEFT HINGE REGULARLY!! It might break without you noticing it, 'cause I certainly didn't. It was perfectly fine a few days ago (I was cleaning it), & today out of nowhere it was busted. And it doesn't affect the opening of the unit one bit (it runs just as smoothy), so it's even harder to realize unless you LOOK at it. I just find it funny (convenient??) that a couple of days ago I changed my stylus 'cause the old one's tip was running rough & making scratches (really minor ones, but still eeesh) on the touch screen. It was kinda bugging me but now, I get a brand new one altogether, hehe. Guess everything happens for a reason...
