Epidemiology:

    • Incidental finding usually
    • frequently associated with sclerosing lesions:
      • radial sclerosing lesions
      • sclerosed papillomas
      • adenosis

 

Common sites:

    •  

 

Gross features:

    • Microcalcifications maybe
    • Not a mass lesion usually

 

Histologic features:

    • rounded, acellular, eosinophilic, fibrillary or hyaline, amorphous material surrounded by lobular acini and small ducts
    • inner myoepithelial layer
    • outer epithelial layer
    • lobulocentric pattern
    • frequently associated with sclerosing lesions:
      • radial sclerosing lesions
      • sclerosed papillomas
      • adenosis
