Molecular features:

·         Loss of Y

·         Note that loss of Y in more than 75% of cells may indicate a clonal population reflective of hematologic disease

·         Trisomy 15

·         Controversial; conflicting reports

·         A recent review suggests that it is an aging-related phenomenon, not associated with any particular hematologic disease (Hanson et al, 2008)

·         Previous reports have associated with various hematologic disorders

·         MDS mostly

·         Chronic myeloproliferative disorders

·         AML

·         CLL

·         CEL

·         Nonhematopoietic tumours (ex. hemangiopericytoma)

·         Significance of presence in all or most cells may be less certain - ?similar to significance of loss of Y
