Epidemiology and
Etiology:
- Normal
variant
- Risk of
unbalanced meiosis (as with any inversion)
- Duplication-deficiency
chromosome
- One arm
distal to breakpoint is duplicated
- The other
arm distal to breakpoint is deleted
- The larger
the inversion, the greater the chance of duplication-deficiency
chromosome being produced
- The
larger the inversion, the greater the chance the offspring will survive
(smaller regions deleted and duplicated)
