Epidemiology and Etiology:

    • Any age

 

Common sites:

    •  

 

Gross features:

    • Splenomegaly
    • Spongy
    • Dark
    • Nodular
    • Frequently multiple
    • Cystic maybe
    •  

 

Histologic features:

    • tall endothelial cells
      • may be large with abundant cytoplasm and enarged nuclei
      • papillary projections often
      • sloughing of endothelial cells into the lumens
        • intraluminal cells may show hemophagocytosis
    • small nucleoli
    • low mitotic rate
    • no nuclear pleomorphism
    • necrotic foci may suggest low malignant potential
