Epidemiology and Etiology:
- Part of the spectrum of polycystic disease of
the liver or other organs
- Also occur sporadically
Common sites:
Gross features:
- Small (<0.5 cm typically)
- Gray to white
- Irregularly shaped
- Multifocal (common)
Histologic features:
- Numerous small to medium-sized ductules
- More dilation than normal ducts usually
- Cysts that are more irregularly shaped than
normal ducts
- Inspissated bile or eosinophilic debris maybe
- Dense collagen separating them
- In portal tracts and at periphery of portal
tracts
- Small cuboidal or flattened cells
