Lip, Oral Cavity, and Oropharynx Tumour Staging

 

TNM:

    • T1 – < 2cm
    • T2 – 2-4cm
    • T3 – >4cm
    • T4a (lip) – invading cortical bone, inferior alveolar nerve, floor of mouth, or skin (chin or nose)
    • T4a (oral cavity) – invading cortical bone (except gingival tumour), deep (extrinsic) muscle of tongue (genioglossus, hyoglossus, palatoglossus, and styloglossus), maxillary sinus, or facial skin
    • T4b – invading masticator space, pterygoid plate, skull base, or encasing internal carotid artery
    • N1 – single ipsilateral node, <=3cm
    • N2 – node(s) < 6cm
    • N2a – single ipsilateral node, 3-6cm
    • N2b – multiple ipsililateral nodes, <=6cm
    • N2c – bilateral or contralateral nodes, <=6cm
    • N3 – node(s) >6cm
