Epidemiology and Etiology:
Common sites:
Gross features:
- Unilateral (except rarely)
- Discrete, sharply demarcated mass
- Solid, white cut surface
- Edematous areas often
- Cyst formation often
- Yellow foci often
Histologic features:
- Pseudolobular
pattern
- Cellular nodules separated by less cellular
areas of dense collagenous or edematous connective tissue
- Sclerosis within the nodules
- Prominent thin-walled vessels in some of the
nodules
- Disorganized admixture of fibroblasts and
rounded, vacuolated cells within the nodules
- Signet ring appearance of vacuolated cells
occasionally (Krukenburg-like)
- They contain lipid, not mucin
- Myxomatous
