- 7% bilateral
- 3-4cm usually
- well-defined
capsule
- light-brown,
lobular cut surface
Histologic features:
- oncocytic cells
- well
circumscribed, ample, granular acidophilic cytoplasm
- small, pyknotic nuclei
- clear cells may
be present
- sometimes large,
polyhedral, clear cells in an organoid distribution
- solid or trabecular pattern

- note: diffuse oncocytosis (non-neoplastic)
may affect the parotid gland unilaterally
- may progress to oncocytoma
