·        Regeneration

o   Muscle fibre with large internalized nuclei with prominent nucleoli

o   Basophilic cytoplasm (RNA)

·        Hypertrophy

o   Muscle fibre splitting

§  Cell membrane splitting a fibre in two, often with adjacent nuclei
