pelvic peritoneum > laparotomy scars >
others
- Bladder (usually
doesn’t extend to mucosal surface)
Gross features:
Histologic features:
- presence of
endometrial glands OR stroma (stromal endometriosis) in a location outside the
uterus
- need to see 2 of
the following 3:
- endometrial
glandular epithelium
- endometrial stroma
- hemosiderin-laden macrophages
- may only see a
thin rim of endometrial stroma with hemorrhage/hemosiderin at the edge of a fibrotic
wall
