INTRODUCTION

This comic has been in the Toike Oike for the past three years. It'll be hard to pick up and move on after this, the final season. Doing this was one of my dreams come true and my thanks go out to those who have given me encouragement over the years. I'm going to boil down the stories into individual episodes this year. Hopefully the 'essence' of Markham will come out better this way.

Now, just a brief little introduction to this comic. Adventurer's Mark takes place in modern times, and features a hero and his butler Gregory. Lord Markham is the protagonist who pursues nobility and errantry in these days of post-industrial social dilution. The entire series is a throwback to the good old days where the English language was far more refined and civilized than its present state. I've always been amazed at the fact that our vocabularies just seem to keep shrinking as time moves on.

September 2003 - A Quickie in the Barrows

I started this one with no particular ending in mind. I tried to let the characters decide how to ride it out!

October 2003 - Hallowe'en Havoc

I must say, that I spefically chose the Habs jersey to get ripped... but now that I think about it, the Leafs suck even more!

November 2003 - Tea Time, toot toot!

Have you read Aesop's fables? Check it out here. Thanks to Dave for giving me the Beowulf "handgrips" reference, and P-dub for suggesting the use of maelstrom. Do I have a problem with adding in zen-philosophical characters in the middle of nowhere? I would say a resounding NO! If you want a ring of clairvoyance I have one for sale. Just e-mail me.

December 2003 - Hungry for the Quest

You know I am getting lazy anytime I open a comic with the masterpiece theatre style. Damn... what can I say: I was busy.

JANUARY 2004 - Bear Market

There was a time when I considered stopping. After last month's poor showing I knew it was do or die. All I can say is that comics are a strange business. Sometimes it is tedious and sometimes it flows from you like water. This was one of those that were finished in under three hours. I had to learn how to draw bears but that wasn't too bad. By the way, Men's Pocky is a real treat... and it is not exclusive to girls although the name of the productive is rather suggestive.

FEBRUARY 2004 - On the Rocks

So my girlfriend says "I think you should have a plow attached to the Bentley. Who does that?" and after a few moments of consideration I saw it all. This will be the last appearance of the Bentley in the series! So long, dear friend.

March 2004 - A Moment to Thyself

I received requests for MORE BEARS and so what better way to join two gentlemen than a game of Cribbage? Seriously now.

APRIL 2004 - Series Finale

Godspeed and Fare Ye Well.

PRODUCTION NOTES All master copies are done on legal-size bond paper with an AutoCAD 2002 frame template (no more hand-drawn frames for me, thank you very much!) I always do the basic forms in pencil before inking each episode with either a Sakura "Pigma Micron 0.3" micro-pigment liner. Typical development times are: 1-3 hours rough sketch, 1-3 hours pen work, ~0.5 hours digital transfer and touch-ups. Plot development time is not countable... it's always going on in my head!
