Outside!

A typical Amsterdam street, and yet I believe I took a good half-dozen photos of similar views... for emphasis, I guess.

There must be a million bikes locked up around the city, plus several hundred stolen ones in the process of being hawked to unsuspecting tourists. Pictured here are but a relative few.

I particularly like the bridges, especially when they weave around and generally fill up the landscape.

It has a certain, "I don't know what."

First I liked being confused by the very topmost part of this photo (is it building or sky?), and then I just liked the photo.

Includes: not only a glimpse of Dutch interior decorating, but a fun streetname to boot!

Yup, there are quite a few narrow streets in Amsterdam. I have proof!

Me, somewhere in Jordaan (pronounced 'yor-DAAAAAAN'), an older neighbourhood that I found quite quaint, although its residents might disagree.

The Greenpeace world headquarters! (I didn't know that until after I took the photo; I just thought it looked pretty)

Yeah.

The Rijksmuseum, from the back. That's a bike lane running through the middle. It's a huge building--it stretches out sideways in both directions (outside the bounds of this photo) for quite a bit. And it's crammed full of beauty!

A smart car! I took a lot of photos of vehicles, because most were much smaller than I'm used to. As opposed to fuel-guzzling North Americans, Europeans have figured out that big cars are largely impractical, and besides, they've got plenty of other things to use as status symbols. For starters: their food, their history, their language... oh, I want to go back.

I think it's very confrontational indeed. Bravo, graffiti artist! Yours is a powerful message.

Still trying to figure out what they might sell at this store...
