By 2001, the orchestra had become fully professional and changed its
name in recognition of the amalgamation of North York and other boroughs
with the city of Toronto. The orchestra is in residence at the Weston

Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra

The
Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra is an AA (Musical America
coding) professional symphony orchestra
employing 74 full time musicians and a staff of approximately 30
fulltime staff. The largest orchestra in western New York State, it had,
during this period,
a 37 week season producing
in excess of 100 concerts a year including 5 subscription series,
specials and festivals, as well as educational programs and regional
concerts.
During the the time of my involvement, the leadership
team at the BPO turned the organization around with a 30% increase
in subscription sales, 2 balanced budgets in the last 2 years and an
overall debt reduction from over 4 M. to approx. $500,000. An Artistic
budget that was consistently kept under budget was a large part of that
success.
