Working to support a volunteer education
committee at the Buffalo Philharmonic, I looked for inexpensive ways to
publicize BPO educational programs (concerts, in-school programs,
scholarship programs).
I created a PowerPoint presentation (at that time new software) that
could be utilized as either a kiosk display in the BPO lobby at main
series concerts, at teacher gatherings, or as part of a presentation that
I would make directly to teachers. |
| The BPO Education programs had never had a website and there
was no money available for a professional designer at that time, so I
created and published a site myself within 48 hours of being hired. |

Together with the volunteer Education Committee
(Board members, orchestra musicians and area music educators) we worked to
create innovative new programming to expand the reach, accessibility and
audience for Educational and family concerts.

whimsical flyers, program inserts and newspaper advertising |

| As Artistic Coordinator, my key responsibilities were for
contracting guest artists, supplementary specialist musicians, and
creating and disseminating the orchestra schedule. My scheduling
tasks included considerations of venue availability, touring needs, a
complex collective agreement, and the logistics of regular broadcasts and
special recording sessions.
A number of contractual obligations required the posting of accurate
schedule information within critical deadlines.
Illustrated to the right is one page of the published master schedule I
created and published both in hard copy and on the orchestra intranet.
I was the key liaison with all venues and as principal tenant of
Kleinhans Music Hall this required me to approve all Kleinhans rentals and
be on top of those activities also.

In this position I was responsible for all the
logistics of concert planning and had to develop detailed systems for
assuring that there was team follow-up. Click the link on the left

I negotiated almost all artistic contracts, administered all
contracts and was responsible for coordinating the schedules, hotel,
hospitality and travel for all guest artists. These artists
