I am a Canada Research Chair (Tier 2) in Medieval Philosophy at the University of Toronto, where I am affiliated with the Department of Philosophy and the Centre for Medieval Studies. I am also an Associate Fellow of Trinity College and the Pontifical Institute for Mediaeval Studies. Currently I serve as Chair of the Department of Philosophy.

My main teaching and research interests lie in the history of philosophy and especially in medieval philosophy. My current research projects deal with medieval philosophy of mind (including the emotions and cognitive psychology), medieval metaphysics, and philosophy of action (free will).
