Components of Interactive Choices
International
Students: Your Opportunities in Canada
Approximately
25% of the students in the Commerce Program are international students, a figure
which does not include permanent residents who have migrated to Canada. Without
the green card, the prospects of working in Canada after graduating is slim,
unless international students are exposed to the firms and unions that offer
such options. Interactive
Choices by Maurice Choy will link you to these people!
Women in the Business World
It has been discovered
that approximately 1000 Commerce Programs students (out of approximately 1500)
are female students, and yet women are still not key players in the corporate
boardrooms in North America. This is evident in an article by the National
Post on February 20th, 2004 entitled "Women Still Shut Out of
Boardroom" by Elizabeth Church (click here
to read the article). With such an strong one-sided workforce going
into the commerce world, what changes and opportunities will surface in the next
2-5 years? Will there be a social and corporate governance implications? Interactive
Choices by Maurice Choy
offers what women can achieve in the future!
Non-Verbal
Communication: Physical and Facial Expressions
Ever wondered what your
hands and body should be doing when talking to a recruiter, your boss, or even
your professor? Your actions and your facial expressions tells a lot about you,
your attitude and your sincerity. Interactive Choices by Maurice Choy grants you
the opportunity to master that communication technique.
Your International Commerce Opportunities
Ever wanted to travel
WHILE still getting a steady income? Ever wanted to see the world and meet new
people WHILE learning new aspects of your career? Interactive
Choices by Maurice Choy opens up the doors for your international exploration!
Fashion Show: Dress to Succeed
The infamous saying of "You
are what you wear" is especially accurate in the commerce world that we are
headed towards. The type of suit, shirt, shoes and for some, the tie, are signs
that executives look at in determining a person's level of professionalism,
diligence and perfectionism. Interactive
Choices by Maurice Choy can teach you how to dress to succeed.
Teamwork: An Interactive Solution
Continuing
the efforts of the teamwork seminar, this event builds on the success of Hugh
Tang and Yung Kim. An additional aspect will
be the main focus of the event: Interactiveness. Gone are the days where
you-just-sit-and-listen seminars, as the Interactive Choices by Maurice Choy
vows to bring an entertaining yet productive direction in teamwork
activities.
Art of
Negotiation II: Speaking the Same Language
Another
successful event by Hugh Tang and myself, Interactive
Choices by Maurice Choy could bring you the second installment of the Art of
Negotiation series. Again, this event will encompass interactive activities to
bring a new face to what we call "seminars."
Linking
You with the new Commerce Career Centre at
Woodsworth
With the expected
opening of a Commerce Career Centre in September 2004 at the new Woodsworth
residence, it is vital that CSA keeps a close relationship with the centre for
the benefit of the students. This will ensure that students are kept well
up-to-date with job opportunities, firm information sessions and recruiting
skills needed for your career success. Interactive
Choices by Maurice Choy brings you this link!
Close Correspondence with
ASUT, UFA, UTMA,
ODA and Other Associations
Keeping
in line with the platform, these associations offer students fantastic
opportunities in their respective fields. Students can benefit enormously from
the efforts and hardwork of the executives of these associations. With that,
since the
Commerce community is large in numbers, unity is essential and vital to the
success of our program.
Close Correspondence with YOU!
Saving the best for
last, YOU are the number one priority in Interactive Choices. This association
(and therefore the position of Career Development Director) exists solely to
serve the Commerce community. It is your career, therefore, you decide what is
best for your future path. Of the components of Interactive Choices, YOU decide
the contents. I want to hear from you. You will be heard, and allow me to start
by offering my friendship.
