Welcome to the homepage of Muhammad Alam. I am a postdoctoral fellow of the Department of Electrial  and Computer Engineering at the University of Toronto. My research interest are applications of integared optics for communication and sensing applications.  One of my key research contributions was the first proposal of the hybrid plasmonic waveguides, which has stimulated worldwide research activity. I have also worked on silicon photonics, chemical and biosensing, nonlinear optics and plasmonics. Feel free to contact me if you have question.
